The Indian medical association (IMA) is upset with the government as not just doctors other health care workers like nurses, ASHA worker also put their lives on risk in the battle against coronavirus. IMA hereby publishes the list of Indian doctors who died in the pandemic due to COVID 19.
We demand they be acknowledged and treated as martyrs. Their families and children deserve solace and from the Government. IMA also urges the Government to seek data from the representatives of nurses and other healthcare workers,” IMA president Rajan Sharma wrote to the government, according to a report in The Tribune.
The IMA also said that if this is the case, the government "loses the moral authority to a1dminister the Epidemic Act 1897 and the Disaster Management Act". "To feign that this information doesn't merit the attention of the nation is abominable," the IMA statement read.
"It appears that they are dispensable. No nation has lost as many doctors and health care workers like India," the statement added, as per a report in The Tribune. The opposition is pointing out the Modi government for not maintaining any data on deaths of migrant workers and the no. of deaths of health care professionals. "If you haven't counted, have the deaths not taken place?" Congressleader Rahul had tweeted.
